I would suggest altering your shop policies to include estimates of delivery times. Savvy thieves suspect that fashion accessory on customs form means it might be jewelry. Unfortunately they can file a case before then. I would ask the buyer to wait at least until that time has passed if they are willing. If so the wait is 40 days before you can fill out a claim. Tracking for FCI is not available for South Africa so if you are getting tracking, it is not USPS tracking.ĭid you insure through Shipsurance or another insurance since FCI does not have insurance. I have not used the global shipping label now provided by Etsy. South Africa is a country that I had problems with in shipping to. This is the first time I've had a lost package. If anyone has any information about the article on International shipping or has any suggestions about how I can handle this issue, I'd appreciate your feedback. If memory serves, I think the article said a package could take 6-11 weeks to arrive, but I don't want to give that information to my customer if it isn't accurate. Should I ask the customer to wait a bit longer? With the corona virus, has shipping been delayed?īefore I sent the package, I found an article that stated how long the package may take to arrive, but now I can't find it.
USPS FIRSTCLASS INSURANCE UPDATE
According to the last tracking number update on Etsy, the package arrived in a nearby city in South Aftrica two weeks ago. Now I don't know what to do or what my options are. This morning, I received a message from my customer asking me about the package. Against my better judgement, I reluctantly sent a package to South Africa using the new Etsy shipping system and crossed my fingers. It wasn't until I received an international sale that I became aware of this new policy of using a third-party shipping facility. I had great concerns about using the new International shipping labels that Etsy recently put into place.
